Choose from 2 exotic locations:
- Bali....................................(SOLD OUT).....................................................(April 3 - 8, Tulamben)
- Greece.........................................................................................................(June 15-20, Zakinthos)
- USA....................................(SOLD OUT)....................................................(July 25-30, Catalina Island)
Workshop Details:
This is more than just a quick 2-day workshop, this is enough time to really delve into everything you need to learn about underwater portraiture.
- Gear: Learn all about various underwater camera housings, camera settings, lenses, lighting, and more! Plus, even though you're encouraged to bring your own underwater gear, it's not necessary! Ikelite has generously offered to donate a few cameras and underwater housings for workshop attendees to use!
- Safety: Water is dangerous, and demands respect. We'll cover various safety issues like currents, animals, water temperature and prop and wardrobe safety (especially when working on-location).
- Planning: There are a lot of additional factors that need to be addressed when shooting underwater. We'll cover choosing a wardobe, which makeup to use (we'll have a professional makeup artist on hand) and which props will work underwater.
- Lighting: Lighting principles are a bit different underwater than on land. I'll show you how to take advantage of natural light settings and also how to use off-camera lighting, strobes and even some inexpensive DIY options to create the exact look you've envisioned in your mind.
- Working In Water: I'll fill you in on all the tricks of sinking and controlling your body, all while trying to get the perfect shot!
- Working With Models: Modeling underwater is extremely difficult - lucking for you we'll have 2 experienced models with us for both workshops! I'll show you everything you need to know when directing someone underwater for the first time. We'll cover different aspects of posing, sinking, working with props and wardrobe and avoiding water sickness.
- Editing: Water is a medium, and anytime you shoot through a medium you're going to have some complications. I'll show you how to bring back image sharpness and clarity, remove that pesky blue color cast, perfect skin tones, correct lens distortion, remove backscatter and solve many other issues that come up in post-processing.
- Business: Underwater portraiture is a skill that can give your portfolio a creative edge, no matter which genre of photography you shoot. Whether you're looking to add underwater engagement photos to your wedding portfolio, surf and swim photos to your high school senior repertoire, or summer pool sessions to your family photography packages - I'll teach you how to include this new style of portraiture into your current business plan.
