Underwater Photography Workshop to be held in Catalina Islands, Avalon, CA on September 20-21. 

This workshop will explore the fascinating world of underwater photography! We'll be shooting in the clear blue ocean water of the the Catalina Islands, complete with experienced underwater models, high quality underwater gear, and plenty of surf and sand. 

In this workshop we'll be covering: 

- Necessary gear, ranging from a variety of price options

- How to use the gear - you'll actually be able to work hands on with your own housing or, if you don't have your own, you'll be able to use Jenna's (Canon) or Josh's (Nikon)

- Lighting underwater, both with ambient light and strobes

- Lighting theory and what makes water so unique to shoot in

- Editing with limited color information

- Working with models and clients underwater

- Applying these new techniques to your current business model

Editing will take place indoors as we walk you through the step by step process of working with the underwater color palette to get the most out of your photos. You'll also be editing the photos you took earlier that day - giving you the chance to apply everything you've learned so far while the two of us individually help you through the process. We'll be right there to give feedback and answer any questions you may have.

Creative Photography Workshop - Las Vegas, NV

Creative Photography Workshop to be held in Las Vegas, Nevada on July 19-20.

This workshop will be entirely hands on - all shoot & edit!! It will be held at the site of an abandoned plane crash in the desert of Las Vegas (more info will be provided in the email after registration).

This workshop is meant to bring you straight into the world of conceptual photography and show you how to directly apply it to any aspect of your own photo business, whether you specialize in portraiture, weddings or even other areas!

For the shooting section of the workshop, we'll walk you through one of our shoots while explaining everything we look for: how to stage a convincing story in a single photograph, ways to make objects and people levitate or what we look for if we are compositing certain elements that aren't a part of the landscape at the given time. Then it's your turn! We're providing plenty of props, costumes and models for you to shoot to your heart's content. We've also reserved the location for after the sun goes down, meaning we will also be demonstrating various parts of light painting and long exposures. This is your chance to learn how to properly use off camera flash in long exposure photos.

Editing will take place indoors as we walk you through the step by step process of achieving realistic composite photos, as well as additional photoshop tricks and tips that we have learned along the way to save you plenty of time and frustration. You'll also be editing the photos you took the day before - giving you the chance to apply everything you've learned so far while the two of us individually help you through the process. We'll be right there to give feedback and answer any questions you may have.

Portfolio Reviews

Don't forget about the open portfolio review session! Print out and bring along your top 10 photos and we'll be there to listen to your career goals and give advice about where to go next. No questions are off limits, so if you want to know something now's your chance to ask it!
